Until tonight: The chances for showers and storms remain elevated and will likely be highest around midnight. Severe storms with damaging wind gusts will be more likely around and north of Washington, DC.
It will be mostly cloudy and muggy, and we won’t see the precipitation we need. Winds will be much calmer than in the afternoon. By sunrise, lows will drop to around 75 degrees (likely to set a new low record for the day) as the last of the scattered thunderstorms move out.

Tomorrow (Monday): The last raindrops in the early morning will eventually give way to sunny spells. Seasonably hot temperatures will rise into the mid-80s to around 90°F. A fresh northwest wind gusting around 25 mph will bring drier, more comfortable air. In the afternoon, a pocket of atmospheric energy will move across the area, potentially resulting in brief showers and thunderstorms.
The overnight rain will quickly die down as Monday night dawns. Skies will be mostly clear. Winds will be from the north-northwest and significantly weaker than during the day. Temperatures will be low around 65 degrees.

Record high and low temperatures possible today
The low temperature in Washington DC today was 81 degrees, tying it for the second-warmest June night on record and the warmest so far this year. There’s a slight chance that rain or storms before midnight could cause the temperature to drop below 81 degrees, but that hasn’t been officially announced yet. The warmest overnight low was 82 degrees on June 30, 1991.
So far today, temperatures have also been breaking records. Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport reached at least 98 degrees, a new record for the hottest temperature today. Reagan National Airport reached at least 98 degrees, tying today’s record for the hottest temperature. Washington Dulles International Airport reached at least 97 degrees, a new record for the hottest temperature today.
