It felt a bit like summer across the region today, especially with the increased humidity, and it’s starting to feel more like summer. Temperatures were in the upper 80s, near 90 in some places, but the humidity made it feel more like the low 90s during the peak of the afternoon heat.
The surrounding area is warm and humid, with showers and storms developing in the west. Storms are possible in some areas into tonight, and in addition to lightning and heavy rain, some storms could produce damaging winds and hail.

Until tonight: Scattered thunderstorms are possible into the evening, most likely in the western and northern parts of the region. Activity may continue until late at night. Storms are most likely to form near the Beltway near sunset if they don’t subside before we arrive. Any storm can be strong to locally severe.
Remember that a thunderstorm watch means you are prepared for the possibility of a severe storm. It doesn’t guarantee that a thunderstorm will hit your area. However, if a watch has been issued for your area, it means that a storm is imminent and you should take shelter.
During the night, low temperatures will drop to around the mid 60s to near 70. Winds will remain out of the south at around 5 mph. Scattered fog will be possible.

Tomorrow (Thursday): After the fog clears, skies will likely be cloudy, which could limit the chance of storms during the day. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center currently rates the risk of severe storms at Level 1 of 5. However, rain and storms, heavy or not, are likely to occur more today than tomorrow. High temperatures will be in the 80s to mid 80s.
