AMRITSAR: Ahead of the Eid festival, Pakistani police have not only detained an Ahmadi but also confiscated a sacrificial animal (goat) preventing him from performing ‘Qurbani’ (sacrifice). Ahmadis are considered non-Muslims in Pakistan. According to Ahmadi sources in Pakistan, Qaiser Imran of Daska was detained by police following a complaint that he had brought a goat for ‘Qurbani’ after which the Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot ordered Qaiser to be detained for seven days under provisions of Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, “so that public may be saved from the unlawful acts of lawbreakers in the supreme interest of the state”.
