Americans discover ‘chic’ Australian fashion trend in Havaianas

Havaianas are a staple in most Australian households. Most people wear them when they go to the rubbish dump. We wear them on our hands when we run on the sand at the beach. Havaianas are a lifesaver for our feet as they prevent our feet from becoming contaminated with germs in the caravan park showers.

However, one American influencer took to TikTok to share her latest fashion find.

“Just listen… All you need all summer is a pair of Havaianas sandals, and I’m going to tell you why,” she says in the video.

“Maybe I should dress you up a little, just to show you how cute you are.

“First of all, it’s super affordable. It literally ranges from $15 to $35 depending on the style you buy. It’s super affordable, that’s the best thing about it.”

“Secondly, they go with literally any outfit, no matter where you’re going, especially if you get a good pair. They’re so chic, you can even wear them to dinner. Like, I’m going out to dinner right now and I’m wearing my Havaianas.”

“Going to the beach? Havaianas. If you’re going to the farmer’s market and you’re wearing cute little loose Levi’s (jeans), you’ll look super cute with Havaianas.”

“So I’m trying to help you. I’m trying to help a girl. Havaianas are my go-to shoes for summer.”

Ozzy quickly rushed to the comments section, asking whether the video was satire.

“As an Aussie, you calling Havaianas ‘chic’ made me cry,” one person wrote.

“In Australia, a lot of places won’t let you eat if you’re wearing Havaianas,” another person commented.

“‘It goes with literally any outfit’ as every bogan has said for the last 30 years (that bogan is me),” another person joked.
