ANTM’s Adrianne Curry reveals the beauty trend that led her to leave Hollywood

In a new interview people, America’s Next Top Model The winner told media that looking back, her time in the spotlight was far from glamorous, and that she felt “betrayed and lied to by the show.”

“We were told every day that whoever won would become a famous model for Revlon, and then when it was on TV they dubbed it in. We never thought of that,” she recalled. “Nobody fought as hard as we did for half the prize money, so they lied to us. We were like, that’s nuts.”

She continued, “That’s the industry. That’s what this industry is. Cutthroat, lying, predatory.”[America’s Next Top Model was] Polished Gem prepared me for the horrible truth that I can’t trust anyone, not even those who seem trustworthy, and still be fooled.”

Curry continued to appear on reality TV shows in the 2000s, A surreal life and My Fair BradyShe said she was glad she never got the success she once hoped for as a model.

“I’m grateful that things didn’t go the way I expected them to because I don’t think I would have been a very good person if I had been a huge success as a model,” she explained. “I don’t think my young brain would have been able to grasp that very well.”

“I was hurt that they were trying to ruin my career. I was like, ‘Hey, you guys have already screwed me and now you’re trying to stop me from making money?'” Curry recalled.

Speaking about the moment she knew it was time to leave Hollywood, the former model said it was when she received an offer that would change her appearance.

“I felt like I had reached a turning point in my life,” she began. “I was 32 and I got offered a job to get fillers in my face. It was a big buck, free fillers in my face, plus an extra dollar on the signing bonus. I remember sitting there and considering it because the money was just too good, and I thought, maybe I could hurt myself for the money.”

“I really had to start asking myself, ‘Okay, if for a second I was willing to inject something in my face for money, where is this road going to take me?'” Curry continued. “At 32, I don’t need that.”

She then met her now-husband, film trailer voice actor Matthew Lord, and the two bonded over talking about the current state of their careers and what they wanted for the future.

Callie is living a much slower life these days, spending time with her animals and her husband, and some of her favorite hobbies include snowshoeing and hiking.

“It feels like a complete reversal of who I was before. I feel richer than I ever was, but I also own less than I ever did,” Curry said. “When I leave this world, I want people to say good things about me, not because of what I’ve accomplished or how many Prada bags I have, but because of who I was to them.”
