Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Results for the state assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be declared today. The BJP is on track for a landslide victory in Arunachal Pradesh, while the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is all set for a second term in the northeastern state.
Voting took place on April 19 for 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh and 32 seats in Sikkim. Voting results for all seats in both northeastern states are in.
In Arunachal Pradesh, results will be announced today for 50 assembly seats in which Chief Minister Pema Khandu is seeking a third term. The ruling BJP has already won 10 seats unopposed. The BJP has fielded candidates in all 60 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, while the Congress Party is contesting 34 seats.
The Sikkim Assembly has 32 seats. Chief Minister PS Tamang said he was confident that the people of Sikkim would support his party for another term in power. In 2019, the SKM won 17 seats against Pawan Chamling’s party’s 15, putting an end to the SDF’s 25-year rule.

Sikkim Assembly Election Results: Setback for Pawan Kumar Chamling
SDF leader Pawan Kumar Chamling lost to SKM candidate Bhoj Raj Rai in the Pokhrok constituency. The former chief minister lost to Rai by 3,063 votes.
Sikkim’s incumbent SKM has won half of the state’s 32 seats and is leading in 15 others, the Election Commission’s website shows.

Sikkim Chief Minister and SKM leader PS Tamang won the Lenok Assembly seat by defeating SDF’s Som Nath Poudyal by 7,044 votes.
BJP’s Heyen Manfi wins in Chayantajo, defeating Indian National Congress’ Komp Dholo by 6,685 votes.
BJP’s Tesam Ponte and Wanling Lawandong won in the Changlang North and Borduria Bogapani constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh respectively.

Sikkim election results: Another SKM candidate wins
SKM candidate Samdrup Lepcha wins in Lachen Mangan constituency
Independent candidate Wanglam Sawin won in Khonsa East constituency in Arunachal Pradesh, while SKM’s Pintsho Namgyel Lepcha won in Jong constituency in Sikkim.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is leading his closest SDF rival Som Nath Poudyal in the Lenok assembly constituency by about 6,443 votes, while in the Soren Chakhun assembly constituency Tamang is leading his closest SDF rival AD Subha by 2,052 votes.

In Arunachal Pradesh, election officials said 24 vote counting centres (48 poll counting stations) have been set up in 25 districts and a three-tiered security arrangement has been put in place in and around these centres, led by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
More than 2,000 officials were deployed to the vote count, and the Election Commission appointed 27 vote observers to oversee the process.
In Sikkim, where turnout among the state’s 464,000 voters was 79.77 percent in the state assembly elections and 80.03 percent in the simultaneous parliamentary elections, the main contest is between the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and the Sikkim Democratic Front of Pawan Kumar Chamling, who served as the chief minister of the Himalayan state from 1993 to 2019.
The BJP also contested 31 seats, while the Indian National Congress contested 12 seats.
According to a statement by Election Commissioner D Anand, the vote counting will take place at six designated centres in schools and government institutions in Gyalsing, Soren, Namchi, Gangtok, Pakyong and Mangan districts.
Voting took place on April 19 for 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh and 32 seats in Sikkim. Initially, counting of votes in the two states was scheduled to take place on June 4, but the date was later rescheduled as the term of the legislatures in both states ends on June 2.
