Sikkim State Election Results 2024 Live: The counting of votes is underway for the Sikkim Assembly elections. The term of the current Assembly is set to end on June 2. The northeastern state held Assembly and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously on April 19. Sikkim recorded a 79.88% voter turnout for the 2024 Assembly elections.
The main contenders are the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), seeking a second consecutive term, and the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), seeking to unseat them. Also vying for power are candidates from the BJP, Indian National Congress and the People’s Action Party of Sikkim (CAP-S). Among the 146 candidates contesting seats in the Sikkim state elections are notable personalities such as Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and his wife Krishna Kumari Rai, former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling and well-known former Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia.

Sikkim voted to elect a 32-member state assembly. Votes are due to be counted for nine seats in Gangtok, seven in Namchi, five in Pakyong, four each in Soren and Gyalsing, and three in Mangan. In 2019, the SKM won 17 seats, beating the 15 won by Chamling’s party, putting an end to the SDF’s 25-year rule.
