Kollam: The CPM Kollam district committee meeting held to assess the results of the assembly elections saw sharp criticism of the state leadership. The criticism was that “this is not a verdict of the people against the grassroots activists”, the same ones who had asked the LDF government to continue its rule. A district committee member from Kadakkal said that as the change in situation had taken place at the state level, any corrections should be made there.
Following on from the recent district secretariat meeting, the district committee meeting also saw criticism of state legislator Jayarajan and LDF candidate M Mukesh from Kollam. The candidates repeatedly demonstrated a reluctance to campaign. It was a misconception on the part of the state leadership that the candidates were popular. One member openly stated that the UDF had won its highest ever majority because of poor candidate selection.
The MP from Chattanur said LDF chief Jayarajan has been pushing the party into crisis for a year. Jayarajan’s statement that he met BJP leader Javadekar on polling day should not be dismissed lightly. He informed the channel without informing the party. He also demanded that Jayarajan be removed from the post of LDF chief. Politburo member MA Baby, central committee members KN Balagopal and CS Sujatha were present. The meeting will continue today.
