Newly signed Arizona State basketball player Jaden Quintans was among 30 participants named to the USA Basketball U18 camp roster on Wednesday.
After decommitting from the University of Kentucky, Quiintance committed to play for head coach Bobby Hurley on April 29. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound center was originally scheduled to graduate in 2025, but that shifted to 2024 to allow him to play a year early in college.
The five-star recruit is rated as the No. 2 center prospect in the 2024 recruiting class and represented USA Basketball in FIBA’s U16 USA Basketball Tournament last summer.
Quaintains is one of 30 prospects selected from the classes of 2024, 2025 and 2026 to participate in this year’s USA Basketball training camp.
He’s not the only connection between Arizona and the U18 national team.
Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd is USA Basketball U18 head coach
USA Basketball announced in February that Arizona Wildcats head coach Tommy Lloyd will lead the coaching staff for the 2024 U-18 national team.
This will be Lloyd’s first time as a head coach in USA Basketball, as he previously served as the court coach for the 2022 U.S. Men’s U18 National Team.
In his three years at Arizona, Lloyd compiled a combined record of 88 wins and 20 losses, leading the Wildcats to three straight Pac-12 Tournament titles. Last season, the Wildcats reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in Lloyd’s tenure, but lost to Clemson 77-72.
Twins from home participate in training camp
Camp participants included up-and-comers Kaden and Kalek House (Class of 2026).
The Desert Mountain High School (Scottsdale) players recently decided to transfer to AZ Compass Prep, where they will team with fellow USA Basketball camp Jeremiah Fears (2025).
The twins are the sons of former Arizona State Guard Eddie House and the brothers of New Mexico State Guard and former Sun Devil Jaylen House.
According to 247Sports, both have offers from GCU and Washington State, but have not yet committed.
