COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A father, a prominent Atlanta business owner, suffered a flat tire and was seriously injured in a horrific crash.
Scotty Williams, also known as Scotty ATL, is the owner of Grillz By Scotty. He said he was with his girlfriend when they stopped his car along Interstate 75 to fix a flat tire.
According to police, the accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on the 5th.

Police said Williams’ Mercedes-Benz E350 was parked in a traffic safety zone between Interstate 75 North and the exit ramp to Windy Hill Road. A Ford tow truck was parked behind the Mercedes with its lights flashing. The driver, Martin Dungou (33), was inside the tow truck.
Williams and Micah Baskin, 35, were standing outside the Mercedes.
Police said a 2015 GMC Yukon driven by Rodney Griffin, 49, was heading north on Interstate 75 when it entered a traffic safety zone and collided with a parked tow truck and a Mercedes. .
The GMC forced a tow truck into the Mercedes, which struck Williams and Baskin and was thrown into the median of the highway.
Williams was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Baskin and Griffin were also injured and taken to the hospital.
Baskin was released, but Williams remains hospitalized.

“I’m lucky I didn’t change the tire because if I had, I probably would have died,” Williams said.
Williams told Newell that the company had just celebrated its fifth anniversary and the grand opening of its new location just weeks before the accident.

Although he has broken his leg in eight places, he says he is grateful to be alive.
“I’ve had two surgeries and several blood transfusions,” Williams said.
Williams said the tow truck driver tried to fix the flat tire but was unable to do so, so she stopped to help him and offered to tow the car.
He said Griffin was between his car and the tow truck when he hit the back of the tow truck.
He said Grady Memorial Hospital staff witnessed part of the crash and stopped to help.
“I think God was the one who got those guys to a safe place and got them to the hospital, so I’m thankful for that,” Williams said.
It is unclear whether the driver will be charged, but police say the investigation is still ongoing.
Williams said business has been going well while he was in the hospital.
