Rachin Ravindra struck a superb 112 to lead New Zealand into the Champions Trophy semi-finals on Monday with a five-wicket win over Bangladesh and in turn dump hosts Pakistan out of the semi-final race. The result in Rawalpindi also ensured India’s semi-final berth in the 50-over tournament as Bangladesh became the other team from Group A to be knocked out. Both New Zealand and India have two wins from two matches and will now meet in Dubai on Sunday to decide team one and two from the group. Pakistan, who won the previous edition of the Champions Trophy in 2017,…
Israel has deployed tanks into the occupied West Bank and ordered its military to prepare for an “extended stay” to fight Palestinian armed groups in the area’s refugee camps. Sunday’s move comes among an expansion of military operations that have expelled an estimated 40,000 people from their homes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank over the past month, since a ceasefire paused fighting in Gaza. Increasingly strident calls by Israeli hardliners for full annexation of Palestinian territories and a proposal by United States President Donald Trump to expel everyone who lives in Gaza have stoked fears of a new Nakba. Here’s…

A love letter to Karachi—loud, layered, relentless—a city that demands to be remembered, even as it forgets itself. Amma would listen to Sharafat Ali Khan on a Sunday, remembering Naani, while Naana would get teary-eyed hearing this particular phrase, lost in memories of her. “Tu mujhe chor kar chali bhi gayi, khair, qismat meri, naseeb mere, ab main kyun tujh ko yaad karta hoon, jab tere sheher se guzarta hoon.” (You left me and went away—well, that’s my fate, my destiny. Why should I remember you now, when I pass through your city?) Amma, too, would feel a profound grief…
Jakub Porzycki | Nurphoto | Getty ImagesBybit said it replenished its reserves following a $1.5 billion hack last week, the largest in the history of the crypto industry. In less than 72 hours, Bybit pieced together hundreds of thousands of ether tokens through a mix of emergency loans and large deposits. While the rapid recovery restored the exchange’s balance and kept customer withdrawals open, it didn’t account for the stolen crypto. The breach occurred during a routine internal transfer, when Bybit was moving funds from its offline “cold wallet,” designed for secure, long-term storage, to a “warm wallet,” which enables…

An endless cycle of heartbreak? This time around its game over and goodbye for the Pakistan Cricket team and its fans. One more Sunday wasted. One more match winning knock by Kohli against pakistan. A slew of our neighbours’ god-awful and tired ‘TV breaking’ jokes. Despite vowing not to do so, the entire nation tuned in to the big match once again which is standard for us. However, this time, there was notably little fanfare or excitement preceding a game that is time and again touted as ‘the greatest rivalry’, for none of us harboured any delusions about our team…

Restrictions dealing with energy, transport and banking have been lifted, as Brussels seeks to encourage democracy. The European Union has lifted select sanctions on Syria as part of an effort to support democratic development during the country’s political transition. The bloc announced on Monday that it had suspended restrictions on oil, gas and electricity, along with sanctions on the transport sector including aviation, with immediate effect.
