Home goods retailer Corne’s HomePlus filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday and announced plans to close at least 70 stores in 13 states.Cornes said on its website that it would close 18 stores in Florida, nine in Texas, and seven in Arizona. Other states slated for store closures include Virginia, Colorado, Mississippi, and Oklahoma.Cornes operates more than 170 stores in 15 southern states and employs more than 4,000 people, according to the company’s website.
