The government has missed a major condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the quarterly tax collection fell short of the official target by Rs198 billion, reinforcing that tinkering with tax rates can no more increase revenues. The federal government has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products, with the new rates taking effect from October 1.
