Cook Political Reports is currently rating the gubernatorial race between Democrat Attorney General Josh Stein and Republican Lt. Governor Mark Robinson as “close.” It was previously rated as “Dem-favored.” Senate and gubernatorial editor Jessica Taylor said CPR initially rated the race this way due to past success of Democratic gubernatorial candidates in North Carolina and the possibility that Robinson’s past comments about women, the LGBTQ+ community, and the Holocaust could reduce swing votes. FERGUSON — Ferguson lawmakers approved an unusual new bill Tuesday aimed at targeting commercial property owners’ earning power to pressure them into paying past-due property taxes. The City Council voted 6-1 to allow businesses to deny license renewals for unpaid property taxes. The measure doesn’t apply even if a business owner is simply renting space and the landlord has past-due taxes. The ordinance would give nine-month “provisional” licenses to businesses whose landlords are behind on their taxes. If the property taxes remain unpaid, the city’s finance director would hold a hearing with the business and property owner to decide whether…

It tells the story of an oppressive king fighting local elections against a young social activist who wants to rid the country of crony capitalism and feudalism. Not only is it used as a slogan in the film, it also serves as a reminder of a time when cinema gave a voice to the masses and held…

Tommy Lloyd glanced at the scoreboard, but his eyes were fixed on the number of fouls, not on his team’s lead. The 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U-18 National Team led 60-46 in a scrimmage on Monday at Reed Court at the University of Colorado, but also committed more fouls than their opponents.”We’re up 5-0 in fouls,” Lloyd said, “and we’ve just got to be a little more disciplined.” It was one of several rare complaints from Lloyd during a scrimmage ahead of the 2024 FIBA U-18 Men’s Americas Cup, which begins June 3 in Buenos Aires.
