The Indian team sheet will not bear the names of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja while Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the architects of arguably Pakistan’s most famous win over India in a T20 match, will be watching the match as mere spectators. It usually doesn’t take much for a Pak-India cricket match to be a fiery affair. Even in times of relative calm, just the dormant history of decades ago used to be enough to get the blood boiling and shape the on-field narrative. So with the two nations set to meet each other in the Asia…

KARACHI: Salman Ali Agha didn’t flinch. He knew exactly what to say. “There’s no such message to the players,” he responded when asked at the Asia Cup captains’ press conference if he had instructed his men to keep their cool against India on Sunday — their first meeting since the brief armed conflict between the two countries in May. “My players are more than welcome to show aggression whenever they want,” Salman went on. “As far as it remains within the field.” It was a breath of fresh air for Pakistan cricket fans — both casuals and diehards. Honesty, assertiveness…
The Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday defended the lifetime security provided to its retired judges. The SC mentioned that the arrangement is lawful, and backed by the Presidential Order, considering their sensitive past duties and security risks. A court spokesperson said, the recently issued circular is aimed at implementing established security protocols, scaling down force deployment beyond what the law allows, and ensuring better coordination between the apex court, the Interior Ministry, and provincial governments. “This is not about extraordinary favour or added privileges,” the spokesperson said. “It’s about aligning security with legal entitlements and preventing unnecessary overuse of state…
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday categorically warned Kabul to make a clear choice between Pakistan and the Khawarij, saying Afghanistan could not host militants destabilising its neighbour while expecting normal ties with Islamabad, Radio Pakistan reported. The statement came as the military reported that 12 soldiers were martyred and 35 terrorists linked to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij network were killed in two intelligence-based operations carried out in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) between September 10 and 13. The premier, accompanied by Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, visited Bannu where he chaired a high-level counterterrorism meeting and…
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), and the National Press Club (NPC) have expressed grave concern over what they termed a “one-sided trial” against senior journalist and investigative reporter at The Express Tribune, Shahbaz Rana, in a local Islamabad court. In an emergency meeting chaired by PFUJ President Afzal Butt at the National Press Club, participants reviewed Rana’s investigative report, which they said was based entirely on official records, documents, and even video evidence of the prime minister. Despite this, they noted, both civil and criminal proceedings had been initiated against him, while none…

Advocate Imaan Mazari filed an application with the registrar of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday, requesting access to CCTV footage following remarks made about her by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
