LAHORE: Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi should have weighed his words before bashing a leader, who is amongst the senior most leaders of the PML-N and that, too, for merely speaking the unpleasant truth about our system, several ruling party leaders opined. A former federal minister, talking to The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity, said that Hanif Abbasi should be ashamed of himself for unleashing a tirade against Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, a veteran politician of the country and a very senior party leader. He said that Khawaja Asif is a man of high stature unlike Haneef Abbasi, who…
DUBAI: Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott demanded improvement from his team after an unsteady batting performance in Tuesday’s T20 Asia Cup victory against minnows Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi. Opener Sediqullah Atal topscored with 73 but was spilled three times, including in the very first over. “We were a bit fortunate with a few dropped catches that sort of let us off. The Tokyo Olympic champion, Chopra, and his successor in Paris, Nadeem, will line up at the athletics world championships for their first encounter since the nuclear-armed neighbours engaged in a four-day conflict in May, their worst since 1999. Chopra, who took Olympic silver behind his great rival a year ago, had often spoken about his friendly relations with Nadeem despite the tensions between their countries.…

The monsoon depression that caused heavy rainfall in Karachi has weakened into a low-pressure system and moved towards Balochistan, ending the risk of heavy showers in the city.
