A three-storey garment factory collapsed during efforts to extinguish a massive fire in Karachi’s New Karachi industrial area on Tuesday, leaving five people, including rescue workers and a cameraman, injured, officials said. The blaze broke out around 6am. in a factory located in Sector 8A, near Sadaat Hotel. At least 13 people, including five children, died as floods devastated Jalalpur Pirwala, where more than 50 villages have been badly affected by the Chenab and Sutlej rivers.
