LAHORE: Pakistan’s flood crisis worsened on Wednesday as authorities warned of “exceptionally high” water levels in the Chenab and Sutlej rivers, threatening large parts of southern Punjab. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed that monsoon floods have claimed at least 883 lives since late June. QUETTA: The Khorasan chapter of the ultra-extremist Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s suicide bombing at a political rally in a provincial capital that officials said killed 17 people and injured many more. The Punjab government has launched “clinics on boats” to provide medical care in flood-affected areas, as large swathes of South Punjab remain inundated after severe flooding in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers.
