Pakistan “failed to live up to expectations” following their shock defeat to the United States in the T20 World Cup, with captain Babar Azam adding that his team underestimated their opponents.
The United States, the tournament’s co-hosts, pulled off a historic upset on Thursday, beating 2022 finalists Pakistan in a super over after the teams were tied at 159 each.
Saurabh Netravalkar, the left-arm seamer who bowled the final over, has worked as an engineer for the past six years while playing for the U.S. national team since 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“We always prepare as best we can when we go into any tournament,” Babar told reporters after his team’s defeat.
“But it’s kind of a mindset. When you play a team like this, you relax a little bit. You take things a little bit lighter.”
“If you don’t execute your plan against any team, no matter who it is, you’re going to lose.
“I think we’ve lacked execution. We’ve been preparing well, but in the games we haven’t been able to execute our plan as a team.”
