Provincial Action Plan to cost Rs4 trillion, focus on security, employment, sustainable progress

QUETTA:

The Balochistan government has formulated a comprehensive 10-year special provincial action plan aimed at ensuring the province’s construction, development, prosperity, and long-term stability, according to Shahid Rind, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs.

Speaking to the media after a special cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday, Rind said the plan has been prepared with the inclusion and consensus-building of all political parties. The draft will be shared with all political stakeholders, approved by the cabinet, and then presented for debate in the provincial assembly. The initiative, described as a roadmap for development and prosperity, is expected to create 1.188 million employment opportunities through collaboration with the federal government and other institutions. It will require an estimated Rs4 trillion in funding, with contributions from the federal government and relevant organizations.

Rind highlighted that the current administration, led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has adopted an effective strategy to address Balochistan’s longstanding issues since taking office. The government has initiated work on projects that previous administrations overlooked, including the provincial action plan at both political and security levels.

“Trust-building at political and military levels is essential for the plan’s success,” he said. The plan will ensure implementation to resolve security challenges and improve other sectors, ultimately helping eradicate unemployment in the province.

The aide emphasized that the blueprint is a people-centric vision, covering all aspects of public interest. New administrative divisions have been designed with public convenience in mind to reduce difficulties faced by residents. “This plan opens the door to sustainable peace and development in Balochistan,” Rind added.
