Freshman Henry Ford is one of 56 people invited to the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Training Camp, which will be held June 26-27 in Cary, North Carolina. The Cavaliers have been represented on five of the past six varsity teams dating back to 2017, most recently last summer with the duo of Griff O’Ferrall and Jay Woolfolk.
Ford started all but two games for the University of Virginia as a true freshman and entered the final weekend of the regular season, batting .347 (69 hits in 199 at bats) with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and an RBI in 46 total games. He recorded 59.
Ford hit two runs in the fifth inning against North Carolina State on Saturday (May 11), setting UVA rookie records for home runs (16) and RBIs (59). Among 2024 NCAA freshmen, he ranks in the top 10 in hits (7th), RBIs (2nd), home runs (5th) and runs scored (6th).
A match against then No. 1 on April 4th. On the 10th against the University of North Carolina, Ford hit three home runs in one game, including a grand slam, a game-tying hit, and a game-winning hit, leading UVA to a 14-11 come-from-behind victory. It was the first three-home run game by a Cavalier player since Dan Street in 2002, and the fifth time in program history to hit three home runs in one game.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training camp will feature 56 top undrafted college players participating in a two-game Red and White series between the Stars and Stripes on June 26th and 27th in North Carolina.
USA Baseball will determine the final varsity team after training camp on June 29, including members of the International Friendship Series and members of the Summer League Tour.
Both training camp games will be played June 26 and 27 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The ceremonial first pitch for both games will be held at 6:35 p.m. ET.
Members of the International Friendship Series will then play a five-game series against Chinese Taipei, while members of the Summer League Tour will play a four-game series against teams selected from the Appalachian League and Coastal Plain League. do. The schedule culminates with a Fourth of July matchup between the two U.S. collegiate national teams in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
