World leaders praised the efforts of US President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race on Monday. The Democratic stalwart withdrew his reelection bid amid growing pressure to step down and endorsed Kamala Harris for the top spot. Biden must now win the party’s nomination at the upcoming Democratic National Convention to challenge Donald Trump.
“I respect President Biden’s decision and look forward to us working together for the remainder of his term. I know that, as he has done throughout his distinguished career, he will make decisions based on his convictions about what is best for the American people,” wrote newly elected UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The United States has strongly supported Israel’s war on Gaza and Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression, and a letter exchanged Sunday between Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky reflected that bond.
“I want to sincerely thank Joe Biden for his friendship and unwavering support for the people of Israel throughout his decades-long career. As the first U.S. president to visit Israel during wartime, a recipient of the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, and a true ally of the Jewish people, he symbolizes the inseparable bond between our two peoples. I send him, Jill Biden and their entire family my heartfelt congratulations from Jerusalem,” the Israeli president said on X.
“Ukraine is grateful to President Biden for his unwavering support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom, which has been and will continue to be important, along with strong bipartisan support from the United States. Many strong decisions have been taken in recent years, which will be remembered as bold steps taken by President Biden in response to difficult circumstances, and we respect today’s tough but strong decision,” the Ukrainian president added.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the Biden administration and its efforts to stop “Putin’s occupation of our country.”
The possible return of Donald Trump to the White House is giving America’s traditional allies in Europe a reason to prepare for a more aggressive and transactional foreign policy. If re-elected, the Republican leader could shift the focus away from Ukraine and use tariffs as a geopolitical and economic weapon against China and Europe.
“This is without a doubt the decision of a politician who has served his country for decades,” Fiala said on X. “This is a responsible and personally difficult step, but one that is worth it.
