Sports betting in Washington, DC, has been legal since 2020. Last month, the DC Council approved a fiscal 2025 budget that is expected to open up the market to more operators and increase revenue for the city. Sportsbooks and sports betting apps pay city taxes on revenue, and winners are taxed on their winnings.
Sports betting apps also pay annual licensing fees to the district.

Earlier this year, BetMGM partnered with Bethesda-based Marriott International to launch a rewards program that allows gamblers to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on hotel stays. This follows an earlier partnership between Marriott and MGM Resorts International that allowed Bonvoy members to use their points for hotel bookings at MGM hotels and resorts.
BETMGM currently operates in 29 states, including Maryland.
