Shortly after the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Beyoncé spoke for Team USA in a promotional ad showcasing the athletes competing over the coming weeks.

Beyoncé cheered on the US competitors, who were dressed in red, white and blue outfits with bodysuits, blue cowboy hats and white cowboy boots. She introduced several members of her team — Simone Biles, Sha’Carrie Richardson, Noah Lyles, Caleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky — while “YA YA,” from her latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” played in the background.

“Look at America,” Beyoncé says, “our hopes and dreams, our superstars who represent us, our big, bold, beautiful, complicated country, all rooting together. Come on, it’s hard not to love Noah and Shakari, the fastest men and women on the planet, who race against the world anytime, anywhere. And what about Caleb, the proud dad who’s back in the water for another gold medal? And what about Katie, the longer the race, the better she swims. And my sweet Simone, you all know her, born to fly, destined to inspire. We have superstars, we have legends, we have big dreamers who fought their whole lives to get here, who gave it all up for one chance, and they did it.”

As footage of the athletes played on screen, Beyoncé continued her support for the athletes who will represent America at the Olympics: “All that pride, all that joy? That’s what makes this team special. That’s why I believe in this team, and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish these next 16 days. America, cheer on Team USA. A team to behold. A vision to behold. A team to believe in. A night to celebrate.”

The Olympic Opening Ceremonies began early today with all the athletes arriving on the Seine River and numerous performers and artists appearing throughout the event. Lady Gaga appeared early in the broadcast with a spirited rendition of “Mon truc en plumes,” while Celine Dion made her spectacular return to the stage after a years-long hiatus with a powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s “L’amour.”

Beyoncé recently gave Kamala Harris’ campaign permission to use her 2016 song “Freedom” in her campaign’s first ad to represent the U.S. Although she has not yet endorsed any candidate, she has previously voiced her support for President Joe Biden and Harris in the 2020 election.
