The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened a meeting of chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of all NDA-ruled states on the sidelines of a Niti Aayog (Niti Aayog) meet in the national capital over the weekend.
This will be Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh’s first meeting in over a year since ethnic violence erupted in the northeastern state in May last year. In fact, it will be his first face-to-face meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi since the conflict began.
The chief ministers’ meeting will be held at the party headquarters in Delhi later on Saturday and is expected to continue till late into the night. The meeting is scheduled to continue further on Sunday morning until lunchtime.
“A lot of discussions are expected, including on report cards for states. The discussions will revolve around the progress of the Federal Government’s plan and its impact,” a source aware of the developments told Network18.
The meeting is also expected to focus on the upcoming state elections for the BJP in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana.
“How to give emphasis on development and last-mile delivery in these states with elections looming may be discussed. The party is aware that it has performed less well in states like Maharashtra and Haryana in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Further strategies are also likely to be discussed in the meeting,” the source added.
