Chandigarh:
Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha filed his nomination papers on Thursday.
The 54-year-old accompanied Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to file his nomination papers. Later, he also addressed a public meeting attended by his family and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including the Prime Minister.
Urging Jindal’s victory to voters in Kurukshetra constituency, Chief Minister Saini said the country has been on a path of progress for the past 10 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Jindal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March after leaving the Congress and was a member of the Kurukshetra state assembly from 2004 to 2014. He will be competing against senior Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Sushil Gupta.
AAP, which forms part of the opposition India Bloc, is contesting the Kurukshetra seat in Haryana, while the remaining nine seats in the state are being contested by the Congress.
The nomination process for Haryana’s 10 Lok Sabha constituencies, which will go to polls on May 25, began on Monday.
The deadline for submitting candidates is May 6th. Candidate scrutiny will take place on May 7th, and candidates will have until May 9th to withdraw their candidacy.
