New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a firm stance ahead of Haryana state elections due later this year despite losing five seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections, saying on Saturday the BJP would fight the upcoming state assembly elections alone, exuding confidence that the party would return to power with a majority for a third consecutive term.

Shah chaired a meeting of the BJP’s state executive in Panchkula on Saturday to discuss election strategy. Addressing the BJP leaders and party workers, Shah said the BJP will fight the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections alone, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

At the meeting, Shah said the BJP would not form a coalition as it does not need any support in the state elections due by October this year.

Besides preparing the outline for the state assembly elections, Shah also instilled new zeal and enthusiasm among the party workers and shared tips with them, roadmap and guidelines for the impending elections.

Haryana BJP president and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan slammed the Indian National Congress, saying the party was in disarray and lacked a policy for the people, which is why people had put their faith in the BJP in the last two state assembly elections.

“I believe that the BJP will form the government in Haryana for the third consecutive term after the state assembly elections,” he said.

Referring to the state executive meeting, Pradhan said a political resolution was passed in which he expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for granting Modi a third term and appealed to them to once again give power to the BJP in the state.

Pradhan criticised his party’s political opponents, mainly the Congress Party, saying they had no political agenda and were a group that was “spreading lies” and “sowing doubts”.

After the meeting, the Haryana BJP posted on its X platform that the Union Home Minister thanked party workers and said the people of Haryana had made an important contribution to Modi’s third term as Prime Minister.

Among those present were party co-president Biplab Kumar Deb, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Rajya Sabha member Subhash Bharara, Congress leaders Naveen Jindal and Dharamvir Singh, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi and state Congress member Kiran Chaudhary.

Senior BJP leaders including Ministers OP Dhankhar, Ram Vilas Sharma, Mool Chand Sharma, JP Dalal, Kanwal Pal and Aseem Goel, state Congress leader and former ministers like Anil Vij were also present.

Around 4,500 party workers from 90 assembly constituencies besides state government leaders and officials attended the conference.
