BJP will win more than 27 seats in 2027 state assembly elections: Chief Minister | Goa News

Margao: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the BJP will win at least 27 seats in state assembly elections in 2027. He said the prediction was based on its results in North and South Goa seats in the last Lok Sabha elections.

“We have won 16 constituencies in North Goa and 11 constituencies in South Goa,” Sawant said at a meeting with BJP activists at the party’s South Goa office in Margao.

Sawant said winning seats in South Goa was always a risk and the BJP has always struggled in Nuvem, Velim, Benaulim, Cuncolim, Kultrim and “to some extent” Navelim. “But with the right strategy, we can win more than 27 seats in the 2027 elections,” Sawant said.

Asked why the BJP lost the South Goa seat, the chief minister said its slogan of “400 per cent victory” led people to believe the opposition’s claim that it would amend the constitution if it won a majority. “We tried to reassure them but I think the voters were convinced by their claims,” Sawant said.

The chief minister also said that the “400 per” slogan was letting voters down and making them believe that losing one seat was no big deal for the party.

“A section of voters were misled by the opposition’s propaganda that the BJP government at the Centre poses a threat and voted against it out of fear,” the chief minister said.
