Black Tech Week announces notable film director as 2024 keynote speaker

Black Tech Week has announced Ava DuVernay, a renowned filmmaker, director and social justice advocate, as the keynote speaker for the event. DuVernay has worked on several projects, including “Selma,” “13th” and “What They See.” She is an Academy Award nominee and multiple Emmy Award winner. “Ava’s dedication to creating opportunities and platforms for people of color is deeply aligned with our efforts to support diverse founders,” said Candace Matthews, founder and CEO of Lightship Foundation. “Her insight and experience will undoubtedly inspire attendees to continue to push boundaries and drive change.” Black Tech Week will feature a special screening of DuVernay’s latest film, “Origins,” inspired by the book by Isabel Wilkerson. Aujaneux Ellis Taylor, Niecy Nash Betts, Vera Farminga, Nick Offerman and more will appear. Black Tech Week will run from July 16-18. Innovators, entrepreneurs and thought leaders from across industries come together to celebrate Black tech culture. The event will feature a diverse range of speakers, interactive workshops, networking opportunities and cutting-edge technology and service showcases.
