QUETTA:

Pakistan Railways has indefinitely suspended the renowned Bolan Mail train service operating between Quetta and Karachi, according to railway officials.

The decision, announced by the railway authorities, stems from persistently low passenger occupancy and declining revenue, which had rendered the daily service financially unsustainable.

The Bolan Mail, a historic and popular route connecting the provincial capital of Balochistan with the commercial hub of Karachi, has been a vital link for travelers, goods, and communities along the way. However, officials noted a steady decline in ridership over time, making continued operations untenable amid mounting losses.

Passengers who have booked tickets for the Bolan Mail through online platforms or other channels are urged to cancel their reservations immediately to claim full refunds. Authorities have appealed to affected travelers to explore alternative modes of transport and to verify the latest updates via Pakistan Railways’ official website or authorized ticketing offices before planning any journeys.

Railway spokespersons emphasized that other key services remain operational as usual. Notably, the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar is scheduled to depart at its regular time of 9 am, while the Quetta-Chaman Passenger train will leave at 8:30 am.

The suspension is described as a precautionary and administrative measure aimed at reducing financial strain on the department. Officials indicated that the service could be reinstated in the future if passenger numbers and overall conditions improve.

This development marks a significant change in Balochistan’s railway network, potentially impacting intra-provincial and inter-city connectivity in the region. Travelers are strongly advised to confirm schedules directly with railway sources ahead of any travel to avoid inconvenience.

For further updates and details, passengers may contact Pakistan Railways officials.
