Political, social circles strongly condemn incident, calling it an attack on democratic forces and peace in region
Terrorists carried out another act of violence in the Tirah Valley of Khyber district, blowing up the hujra (community hall) of Awami National Party (ANP) District President Abdul Raziq Sunday night. According to police, the attackers used explosive material, completely destroying the structure and reducing all valuable items inside to rubble.
Police officials said that Abdul Raziq’s palatial residence had previously been set ablaze by militants about two years ago. Due to the worsening law and order situation in the area, he had vacated the locality nearly four years ago because of persistent security threats.
Authorities further revealed that the ANP leader had been receiving continuous threats from terrorists for a long time. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the latest incident, as the hujra had remained uninhabited for an extended period.
After the explosion, security forces and police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators. Investigations are underway to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible for the attack.
Political and social circles have strongly condemned the incident, calling it an attack on democratic forces and peace in the region. They have demanded the immediate restoration of law and order in Tirah Valley and swift, effective action against the elements involved to prevent further acts of terrorism.
