You’ve probably seen this look all over TikTok (or BeautyTok). Summer 2024 Aperol makeup videos have racked up thousands of views. @samanthaa.nicole’s video racked up over 235,000 views in just three days! But the trend was actually inspired by Hailey Bieber, who gave us her Sugar Plum Fairy makeup look.

In a June 2024 interview with Glamour magazine, Bieber spoke about the bright coral blush from Lorde’s makeup collection, saying, “I want people to put this on and think, ‘I have Aperol Spritz.’ Maybe that’s what you’re getting. Aperol Spritz makeup is next!” And she was right. TikTok users adopted the term and spread it around. Orange makeup might sound scary, but we promise it’s not. To prove it, we’re sharing our tips on how to do Aperol Spritz makeup. Now you’ll look like an Italian goddess in the Tuscan countryside. No passport required.
Keeps skin hydrated
Aperol Spritz makeup is all about dewy skin, so steer clear of dull, matte foundations for a summer glow. A tinted moisturizer works well as it won’t take away from your natural glow. For extra glow, use a liquid highlighter (gold shimmer looks great) on the high points of your cheeks. As celebrity makeup artist and beauty expert Jenna Garagiola explained to Women magazine, the perfect combination of dewy and matte skin can also be achieved by applying powder only to the oilier parts of your face. Then spritz it on top with a dewy setting spray (get it?).

Don’t make the outline too dark
Aperol Spritz style doesn’t mean going overboard with contouring. Hailey Bieber tends to keep it light, so we should too. Add some liquid contouring (for a dewy look!) in the hollows of your cheeks and on either side of your forehead to create definition. Then, spritz a lighter powder bronzer on the areas of your face that naturally catch the sun, like your nose and the middle of your forehead, for a sun-kissed look. You can also use a shimmery product here to add an extra glow.

Find the perfect orange blush for you
Orange blush is a great Aperol makeup color because it’s the perfect color to make your tan look even more pronounced (but be careful not to go for the glow and end up looking like a giant Cheetos). If you have cool skin tones, try a bluish-orange blush; if you have warm skin, warm or coppery colors will suit you better. Start with a light color, then layer on the blush for the most natural look. If you can’t find an orange blush, a peach or coral color will also work for a glow effect.

Try the Aperol look with bright eyeshadow
If you’re feeling brave, go all out with a bright orange eyeshadow. Make sure you don’t apply too much under your eyes as it will make your eyes look sore (not a good look). Also, apply it lightly. Proper blending and building up the shadow will be your biggest advantage here. You can also add copper or peach tones to create dimension. If orange doesn’t suit your eyes, go for gold or bronze glitter, which are more versatile.

Nude or orange-toned lipsticks look great on you
If your lips are too orange, opt for a nude lipstick. Many TikTok users keep their lip color toned down to avoid their Aperol Spritz makeup looking too over the top. But orange lipstick is totally fine, as long as you pay attention to the undertones. If you have pale skin, look for oranges that lean more towards red or coral. If you have darker skin, try a light tangerine color. If you’re in-between, look for a color that’s closest to actual orange. This makeup is all about brightness, so a warm lip gloss with gold shimmer is the perfect finishing touch. Get that golden glow.
