If you’re a fan of butterburgers, cheese curds, and frozen custard, you’ll want to keep reading.

Culver’s, a popular burger chain primarily concentrated in the Midwest, is increasing its store count by at least 51 stores through the remainder of 2024, a company spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY. The news was first reported by Eat This, Not That!

“While there is always the potential to open more facilities, our current projection and development trajectory is 51,” Eric Scrumm, Culver’s director of public affairs and communications, told USA TODAY on Friday.

In which states will new Culver’s restaurants open?

Scrum confirmed that the chain will not expand to new states.

“Arkansas was the last new state we entered two years ago,” Scrum said. “Our focus now is to build within our current footprint.”

According to franchise disclosure documents, the company plans to open new restaurants in the following states in 2024:

  • Alabama
  • florida
  • georgia
  • illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • michigan
  • minnesota
  • missouri
  • north carolina
  • Ohio
  • south carolina
  • tennessee
  • wisconsin

Culver’s named Fodor’s Best Fast Food Restaurant in America

Culver’s was named the best fast food restaurant in the United States by Fodor’s Travel.

Fodor’s Gina Truman writes that she spent a year “driving across America in search of eating (and experiencing) true American culture.” She ranked 12 fast food chains, excluding large corporations such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King.

The article stated that Culver’s “looks like fast food, but surpasses the rest in taste.”

The burger chain was founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin in 1984 by George, Ruth, Craig, and Lee Culver. The chain currently has more than 900 family-owned franchises in 26 states, according to its website.
