One of Georgia Tech’s 2025 cornerback targets went undrafted and will transfer to another ACC school other than the Yellow Jackets: Strong announced today that he will commit to North Carolina State over Georgia Tech and West Virginia.
BREAKING: 3⭐️ CB Cam Strong commits to NC State University!!
The 6-foot-1 cornerback from South Carolina chose the Pack over Georgia Tech and West Virginia University.

Strong took his official visit to Atlanta last weekend, having visited North Carolina State and West Virginia in the weeks prior. Since his Atlanta visit, the 247Sports crystal ball has been thrown several times that Strong is going to Raleigh, and today he committed to Raleigh.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Strong is the No. 667 player in the country, No. 61 cornerback and No. 14 player in the state of South Carolina. He plays at TL Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina, and holds offers from Duke, Michigan State, Tulane, Florida and Virginia Tech, among others.
Below are some stats and information on Strong from Andrew Ivins, director of scouting for 247Sports.
“I also competed in track and field. As a sophomore I recorded a time of 5.6 seconds in the high jump and 23.69 seconds in the 200 meters.”
“2023: TL Hanna was an All-Region selection. He went 10-2 and reached the second round of the South Carolina AAAAA playoffs. He recorded 35 total tackles and multiple turnovers.”
Georgia Tech didn’t get to land Strong, but they did get some potentially good news today.
One of Georgia Tech’s top targets has set a signing date and named the Yellow Jackets among his final five schools.
2025 defensive back Jontay Gilbert announced his final five schools today, setting his intended enrollment date as August 10. Other schools on Gilbert’s final list were Georgia, University of California, San Francisco, Louisville and North Carolina State.
Gilbert is a four-star prospect, rated No. 124 in the country, No. 14 defensive back and No. 16 player in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite. He took an official visit to Georgia Tech this past weekend.
Georgia Tech is in the midst of recruiting right now, and made a bold move late last night by signing defensive tackle Kamron Cullins from SMU to Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets’ 2025 class is currently ranked 14th by 247Sports and could move outside the top 10 if they continue to land some of their top targets.
Below is a scouting report on Gilbert, along with some stats and information from 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins.
“A long-framed defensive back prospect with traits worth building on over the long term. He was measured multiple times over the summer prior to his junior season at just over 6’1″ and has even more arm length. He played both safety and cornerback in high school and played both positions against a powerhouse team based out of Atlanta. Some coaches see him as a Saturday safety, but video so far has shown he’s not afraid to use his hands or squeeze in vertical routes, so he may be best suited for an outside role in a physical snap-to-whistle coverage scheme. He could also be a potential run defender as he looks to get off blocks and get the ball on the ground. His size is impressive despite his lack of production off the ball, although there are some question marks over his top end speed due to a lack of data points. If he can continue to develop, he should be considered a player with the potential to be a multi-year impact player at a Power Five program.”
“I also ran track and field in high school.
“2022: A two-way player for Douglas, earning snaps as both DB and WR. 54 total tackles, 2 PBU, 1 INT. Helped the Astros reach the Georgia AAA playoffs. Earned All-Region honors.”
