American rock band Train paid tribute to founding member Charlie Collen after his death at the age of 58, calling him “the kindest man”.

The band formed in San Francisco in 1993 and enjoyed one of its biggest hits, Drops of Jupiter, eight years later.

Collin left the band in the early 2000s, but the band later released another big hit, “Hey Soul Sister,” in 2009.

“He was the sweetest guy and a really good-looking guy. Let’s form a band. That’s the only logical thing to do.”

“His unique bass playing and beautiful guitar playing helped put us on the map in San Francisco and beyond, and I will always hold him warmly in my heart.”

“I always tried to get him to do more, but he had his own vision. You’re a legend, Charlie. Go charm those angels.”

breakthrough hit

He continued to be active in the music industry, playing guitar and providing backing vocals in other bands.

Train is led by singer Patrick Monaghan, who had a huge hit with “Drops of Jupiter” in 2001.

They went on to tour with Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows, and by 2003 their album My Private Nation had gone platinum.

Train released hit songs such as “Drive By” in 2012, and their latest studio album was “AM Gold”, their first studio album in five years, in 2022.
