Chase gives $120,000 to InkBusiness Preferred

Credit card welcome offers can sometimes make a big splash, but the new welcome offer on Chase’s Ink Business Preferred® credit card is definitely making a big splash: For a limited time, new cardholders can earn 120,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards after spending $8,000 in the first three months after opening the card.

The previous offer was already generous – 100,000 points after spending $8,000 in the first three months after account opening. What makes the new offer of up to 120,000 points even more enticing is that Chase Ultimate Rewards® earned on the Ink Business Preferred card can be redeemed for travel bookings through Chase at 1.25 cents per point – a 25% increase over receiving the rewards as cash back. This means that anyone who meets the card’s minimum spending requirements can earn $1,200 in cash back or use it to book $1,500 worth of travel through Chase.

Earn $750 in bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after account opening, plus a 0% introductory purchase APR for the first 12 months after account opening (then a variable APR ranging from 18.49% to 24.49%).

But this big gotcha makes a lot more sense if you strategically transfer your points to one of your card issuer’s travel transfer partners. Part of the appeal of a flexible rewards program like Chase’s Ultimate Rewards program is that you can transfer your points directly to a loyalty account with any of Chase’s 11 airline and three hotel partners, usually at a 1:1 ratio. That means your travel rewards can be even more valuable than the 25% bonus you get for booking through Chase.

For example, you could transfer 116,000 of those points to Chase’s transfer partner, Air Canada Aeroplan, to fly one-way in business class from San Diego to Montreal in December 2024 and enjoy skiing at Mont Tremblant.

If you paid cash for this ticket, over $1,800, or booking through Chase Travel, the value would increase by 25% to about 135,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards since it is pegged to the cash price of the ticket.

The card’s enhanced welcome offer is generous, but it’s important to know that beyond its glittering bonuses, the Ink Business Preferred is a great card for small business owners. With a $95 annual fee, the card earns 3x points per dollar (up to $150,000 total) on purchases like shipping, internet, cable, phone, and advertising, and 1x points per dollar on all other purchases. Plus, through March 25, 2024, you’ll earn 5x points total per dollar on Lyft. Businesses that typically spend in these areas will find the annual fee worth it, especially if they want to earn rewards that can be used for travel. The Ink Business Preferred card’s bonuses are currently at an all-time high, so if you think this card is right for you, there’s never been a better time to apply.
