The wait is over: The Texas Tech football team has unveiled its new uniforms as the University Athletics Department’s apparel deal with Adidas officially kicks off.
Tech’s sports programs, particularly football, and the main athletic department account on X (formerly Twitter), began teasing the Adidas announcement over the weekend, and on Monday morning everything became official, with the football team’s account quickly giving people what they wanted.
Just before 10 a.m., the soccer account posted the above video, revealing the team’s new look starting this season.
Similar to the Under Armour uniforms, Texas Tech will have a few different combinations to choose from: The Red Raiders will wear black, red and white jerseys and pants, with white and black helmets available.
The most noticeable changes to the uniforms are the larger numbers on the front of the jerseys, and there are two lines on the shoulders (a white line on the black-and-red jerseys and a black line on the white tops) instead of the single line and Texas Tech logo that was on last year’s uniforms.
The helmets have a white stripe down the middle instead of the red line on the previous design. Players featured in the video are Caleb Rogers, Beren Morton, Bryce Ramirez, CJ Baskerville, Taj Brooks and Jacob Rodriguez.
The Texas Tech team is expected to release more details and uniform looks later this week. Fans can begin pre-ordering adidas apparel at RedRaiderOutfitter.com, with an estimated shipping date of mid-September for most items featured.
