In honor of National Small Business Week, small business success stories are being celebrated across central and upstate New York. Onondaga Community College’s Small Business Development Center has selected eight small businesses of the year, one for each county it serves. These include Clean and Glo Cleaning Services in Syracuse and Broadwell Hospitality Group in Oswego County. SBDC Regional Director Bob Griffin says the formula for success varies from business to business.

Griffin says that if these parts don’t fall into place, no matter how hard owners work, the data shows it’s going to be difficult. His office serves as many as 2,000 clients a year, but 80% of them are run by his one to three companies or are startups that have not yet officially launched. Griffin says 95 percent of them won’t succeed.
“It may sound bad, but in some ways it may be the right decision,” Griffin said. “Sometimes you can get away with not launching a business. Part of our role as advisors is to help these people make informed decisions about whether it makes sense to launch a business. In some cases, the best answer is not to move forward, and I hope so.”As a result, we save some money and save our marriage and house. You can save money. ”
The Small Business Administration on Friday will name a veteran-owned small business in upstate New York this year.
