A Pakistani Christian father is seeking justice after his teenage daughter was recently kidnapped and forced into marriage.

On April 4, 2024, 13-year-old Sania Ameen was abducted near her home in Anjotar Sialkot, a remote village in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The girl’s father, Ameen Masih, said his daughter was on her way to buy groceries for her family when she was forcibly taken away by a local man and two of her accomplices. Ta.

Masi reported that on the day of the kidnapping, she received a heartbreaking phone call from another daughter about Sania’s disappearance. They rushed home and immediately began searching for their missing daughter. Witnesses at the scene said Sania was abducted against her will by a man named Saif Ali and his girlfriend’s associates. Masih immediately filed a complaint against Ali with the authorities, but it was never reported to the police, who instead accused him of being an irresponsible father who failed to protect her daughters.

Despite Masi’s desperate pleas, local law enforcement agencies have not filed a first information report (FIR) against the suspected abductors. Authorities justified the kidnapping by saying that although Sania was a minor, she had willingly married and converted to Islam, and the case was closed within three days.

In response, Ameen filed another written application with a police station officer against Ali and two others for multiple crimes, including kidnapping, harassment, conversion, and forging documents to change their age. A formal request was made to register a complaint. The complaint also states that Ali and his partner kidnapped Sania for the purpose of sexually assaulting and exploiting her. However, the police have not yet filed a complaint on Masi’s behalf.

“We call on authorities to arrest and prosecute perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law and to deter kidnappers and exploiters from preying on the daughters of vulnerable communities like ours. We ask that this set a precedent,” Masih said. “His punishment may help the majority of the community understand the gravity of these issues and empathize with the pain of helpless parents whose daughters are kidnapped and forced to convert in front of their eyes.” These are girls who are not even physically or mentally prepared for something like that.” They are naive and underage. ”

Masih also said that regardless of the religious prejudice Christians face in Pakistan or the social support of the perpetrators, this marriage of minors is undoubtedly a crime and a violation of Pakistani law.

“We call on the government authorities to treat us as equal citizens of this land and help us rescue our daughter,” Masih said. “She has been forcibly detained and physically abused by her kidnappers in front of our eyes, under the supervision of law enforcement.”
