HOUSTON, Texas, June 05, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Thirty-eight small, diverse business leaders from the Houston area have successfully completed Clark’s Strategic Partnership Program and are positioned to lead their companies to new heights.

Founded in 2006, the Strategic Partnership Program (SPP) offers executive MBA-style classes to minority-, women- and veteran-owned small businesses in the construction industry. The SPP curriculum combines classes taught by Clark construction professionals and local industry experts with interactive team projects and workshops.

Throughout the eight-month course in Houston, participants focused on a variety of business and construction industry topics, including financial statements and accounting, insurance and warranties, estimating, purchasing, project management, and essential business competencies such as presentation and networking skills. The learning experience culminated in a capstone project, where SPP participants made presentations to industry leaders.

Eleazar Botello, an SPP alumnus from Houston and co-president of Botello Builders Corporation, participated in the Strategic Partnership Program with the goal of developing his estimating, project management and marketing acumen. “Through SPP, I was able to develop valuable relationships with Clark leaders and industry peers, and I look forward to putting everything I learned in the program into practice and sharing it with my team.”

Clark founded SPP to provide diverse companies with the training, knowledge and resources they need to compete for large-scale construction project opportunities. Since its inception, Clark has expanded its courses to 10 markets across the country. Houston graduates will join an extensive SPP alumni network of more than 1,500 business leaders and construction entrepreneurs. To mark the program’s 15th anniversary in 2021, Clark pledged to award $2.5 billion in new contracts to SPP graduates over the next decade and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive growth for program graduates.

“Launching our Strategic Partnership Program in Houston is another testament to Clark’s commitment to creating economic prosperity in the region. We’re proud to be a small part of these incredible business leaders’ journeys and look forward to seeing what they accomplish and how we can work together to move the Greater Houston region forward,” said Kara Lanigan, Clark Construction’s group CEO, who leads the company’s efforts in Texas.
