LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Clark County issued its first sidewalk vending business license Wednesday to a Las Vegas man and his family.

The milestone comes more than a month after commissioners voted to approve restrictions on street vendors in unincorporated areas of Clark County.

On Wednesday afternoon, Paletas y Aguas owner Jose Manuel Carrera was greeted by Clark County Commissioners Tick Segerblom, Marilyn Kirkpatrick and William McCurdy, along with Clark County Business License Director Vince Cuellar, who presented him with his business license. Carrera was also presented with a one-year membership in the Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

Carrera’s Paletas y Aguas is located in Southwest Las Vegas at the corner of Cactus Avenue and Dean Martin Drive. He also owns LV Michoacana, an ice cream shop in North Las Vegas that offers ice cream bars, sorbets, aguas frescas and lemonade slushies.

“The process is smooth and I think as long as you meet the requirements you won’t have any problems,” Carrera said. “To everyone trying to get a business license, everything is possible. I wish you all the best.”

Nevada passed SB92 in 2023, a law that requires each jurisdiction to set their own rules for what insurance and permits are required, where sales can and can’t take place, etc. The ordinance was approved on April 15th and went into effect on April 30th.

Clark County also hosted sidewalk vending workshops in the weeks following the ordinance’s approval. The workshops walked potential vendors through the requirements to apply for and obtain a business license. For more information, click here.
