It was the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with Colin Jost (and President Joe Biden), live from Washington, DC.

The host of “Weekend Update” on NBC’s weekly sketch show “Saturday Night Live” brought his punchy brand of comedy and wife Scarlett Johansson to the annual roast of U.S. presidents. Jost lambasted everyone from Biden to former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump to Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“It’s not always easy to follow President Biden… just like it’s not always easy to follow what he says,” Jost joked. “I hope this is a night to remember for most of us,” he said, referring to voters’ reaction to Biden’s age.

Colin Jost touches on President Biden’s biggest controversy, the 2024 election campaign

During the dinner, Jost touched on some of the biggest controversies, from President Biden’s declining approval ratings among Black voters to the controversy over cocaine found in the White House last summer.

“Like many of you here tonight, I’m pretending to do the news on TV. My Weekend Update’s Michael Che was also scheduled to join me here tonight, but with President Biden… “In solidarity, I have decided to forfeit all support for black people,” he said, referring to his “Weekend Update” co-host and close friend Che.

Jost added, “I love Washington. Last time I was here, I left my cocaine at the White House. Fortunately, President Biden was able to put it to good use during his State of the Union address.” Ta.

Professor Jost also touched on recent headlines, joking that Columbia University has become one of the “dangerous geopolitical hotspots of the world” following student protests over the Israel-Hamas war. He also quipped, “Obama got Bin Laden, you got O.J.”

“By the way, now that O.J. is gone, who will be Trump’s new front-runner for vice president? Diddy?” Jost added.

Jost held lucky charms for the audience during his set. and his spouse, two-time Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson.

“Doug, as you can see from your comments about my wife, I’m used to being a second gentleman,” Jost said of Emhoff, who is married to Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I want to thank my wife for putting up with a lot of banter and agreeing to meet with everyone in this room individually after the ceremony,” he said later, drawing a laugh from the “Her” actress.

The end of the night took a serious turn when Jost paid tribute to his late grandfather, who he said voted for Biden. He also called Biden a “decent human being.”

“My grandfather voted for decency, and decency is why we’re here tonight. Civility is why we’re here tonight,” Jost said. he said.
