The U.S. Men’s National Team, playing at home with the Stars and Stripes in Copa America 2024, will be looking to make some waves when they open their group stage match against Bolivia on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The team, ranked second in the CONCACAF rankings, is in Group C with Bolivia, Panama and Uruguay and is the favorite to win the group.

Bolivia currently sits ninth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier rankings. The two teams last met in a friendly in 2018, with the USA winning 3-0.

This will be the United States’ fifth appearance in the Copa America, but they have finished fourth twice before, in 1995 and the 2016 Copa America Centenario, which was also held in the United States.

  • date: Sunday, June 23

    Tim Ream’s Concerns

Liam appears to be struggling with something, but it’s unclear what it is.

Matt Turner threw the ball out of bounds for Ream to see. Ream crouched down. The athletic trainer didn’t come to check on him, so it looks like he’ll keep playing. But we’ll see if that concern remains and if Ream can play the full 90 minutes.

53′ Balogun almost scores his second goal.

    49′ Yellow Card

Weston McKennie received his first booking after a tough challenge.

    USA halftime substitutions

    Yunus Musa replaced Tyler Adams.

Adams is undoubtedly on some sort of time limit — whether that was a predetermined limit of 45 minutes or whether it was longer but Berhalter felt he was in control of the game remains to be seen.

    46′ Substitution

Yunus Musa replaced Tyler Adams for the United States, while Miguel Terceros replaced Cesar Menacho for Bolivia.

    Halftime: USA 2-0 Bolivia

The U.S. went into the first half with a comfortable 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:51 PM PDT

    Balogun really needed it.

“Baro” has struggled for club and country – the first 43 minutes tonight were quite trying – and his confidence seems to be at rock bottom.

Maybe this goal will inspire him, and if it does, it will be a big boost for the U.S. in this Copa America.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:45 PM PDT

    2-0! Balogun!

As the first half drew to a close and it looked like the U.S. was having a familiar problem late on…Folarin Balogun peeled off the shoulder of a Bolivian defender, received a pass from Christian Pulisic, shifted the ball onto his left foot and fired the ball past Bolivian keeper Guillermo Vizcarra for a goal.

The score is now 2-0 and the game is probably over (Bolivia has not given them any chance to go forward).

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:45 PM PDT

    44′ Goals

Folarin Balogun gave the USMNT a 2-0 lead with an assist from Christian Pulisic.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:36 PM PDT

    Without Pulisic’s early goal…

…USMNT fans will be on edge right now. The performance over the last 30 minutes has been a B-minus at best. The momentum from the first 10 minutes has evaporated. The crowd has gone quiet. The possession of the ball has not been progressive or clean.

It’s still 1-0, and if it stays that way until halftime, it’s going to be a bit disappointing from an American perspective, to be honest.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:32 PM PDT

    Another yellow card for Bolivia…

And this was all about a clever US military buildup.

The U.S. defender sent the ball from right to left to Antonee Robinson, who found a passing lane over the line and put the ball at the feet of Folarin Balogun, who passed the ball to Gio Reyna, who dribbled past Bolivia’s Luis Jaquin, whose only option was to beat Reyna.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:32 PM PDT

    31′ Yellow Cards

Reyna received another booking against Bolivia’s Luis Jaquín.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:31 PM PDT

    27′ Yellow Cards

Bolivia’s Leonel Justiniano was booked for a hard tackle on U.S. men’s national team player Gio Reyna.

  • Sunday, June 23, 2024, 3:29 PM PDT

Gio Reyna falls ill with an injury

He gets up and seems OK, but the tackle by Bolivia’s Leonel Justiniano was a bit too rough and earned him a yellow card.
