A couple who used fake documents to travel abroad through Pakistan’s Jinnah International Airport in Karachi have been dismissed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Department.
VisaGuide.World reports that an FIA spokesperson said Talat Iqbal and his wife attempted to travel to Europe on a fake British work visa.
Local media also reported that the accused couple paid 2,400 rupees to an agent in Lahore to obtain fake visas. The FIA spokesperson further pointed out that the amount was received in several different accounts to avoid detection by law enforcement authorities.
After investigation, the suspects were transferred to Anti-Trafficking Circle Karachi for further legal action.
Two passengers arrested at Lahore airport for trying to travel abroad with fake documents
At the same time, the FIA also arrested two other passengers who attempted to travel abroad from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport with false documents during the week.
In this regard, one of the passengers, Murad, had obtained a visa worth 2 million Pakistani rupees through his agent Yousaf Baig, but he was said to have been arrested on the airport premises after identification.
As a result, FIA Faisalabad and Gujranwala filed suit against the agent. Another passenger, Amir Hamza, was caught trying to board flight PA-410 bound for Dubai.
A search of his belongings revealed a fake Italian passport with fake stamps and a fake Spanish residence card. The two accused were then transferred to the Anti-Trafficking Circle in Lahore for further legal proceedings.
FIA uses fake travel documents to drop off man planning to travel to Italy from Islamabad airport
Last month, in a similar operation, the FIA stopped a passenger traveling to Italy via Pakistan’s Islamabad New International Airport with fake travel documents. Additionally, mobile phones and laptops were found on two passengers who had arrived from overseas.
According to officials, a passenger named Sajid Abbasi from Mandi Bahauddin arrived at the airport for a trip to Italy. Immigration officers found the Italian resident’s fake card and handed it over blank to the anti-trafficking district. During the initial investigation, the suspect stated that he received an Italian visa from his agent.
FIA officials also searched the luggage of passengers Mohammad Suleman and Mohammad Abid, who arrived from Dubai, and found five iPhone 15 Promax, three iPhone 13 and three Samsung Galaxy S24s, worth a total of 7 million Pakistani rupees. Eight laptops were found.
Additionally, the suspects in Karachi were handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
