KARACHI:

The campaign against profiteering continues across the city to ensure maximum relief is provided to the citizens.

In this regard, a meeting to review actions against overpricing, was held at the commissioner’s office with Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi in the chair.

During the meeting, the commissioner directed all deputy commissioners to take strict action against profiteers and ensure that official prices are strictly implemented.

The commissioner instructed officials not to show any leniency towards those involved in overcharging. He also directed the officials in the field to take on-the-spot actions against profiteers to ensure the availability of essential commodities at official rates.

Meanwhile, members of the commissioner’s monitoring team including additional commissioners and assistant commissioners presented a report about on-the-spot actions taken so far in the month of Ramazan. The report mentioned that Rs34.5 million fines have been imposed on 4,243 profiteers during the past 19 days.

Moreover, 91 shops were sealed and 90 profiteers were arrested, while prices were checked at 18,771 locations across the city.
