The 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville is expected to attract tens of thousands of crypto enthusiasts and prominent politicians from across the country.
The event has attracted people from all walks of life, from presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. to actor Russell Brand.
With many eagerly awaiting comments from former President Donald Trump tomorrow, and tens of thousands gathered here, the message today was clear: the Bitcoin community is ready to make its voice heard on the political stage.
More than 35,000 people from all over the country will be gathering, but the one thing they have in common is Bitcoin.
“Bitcoin is the most decentralized and censorship-resistant cryptocurrency. It allows you to have true ownership of your assets,” said Bob Bodily of Bionix.
Bob Bodily believes there has been a growing political awakening within the Bitcoin community over the past 18 months.
“I think this is the first time that people are starting to wake up to the fact that there is a huge cryptocurrency user base in the US that hasn’t been addressed by politicians before,” Bodily said. “It’s very strategic for President Trump to take advantage of this.”
Vanderbilt University professor Yesha Yadey said in a lengthy statement to Fox 17 News that crypto has become an “openly politicized issue” this election season, with candidates under pressure to clearly state their positions on the industry and its regulation.
“There’s obviously a lot of support from the crypto industry, and a lot of people who really want a more favorable regulatory environment,” Bodily said.
And people here believe former President Trump can do it. “He acts for the people, and Bitcoin is the people’s money. He’s rich. He knows how the system works, and he probably understands what’s going on right now with currency inflation and how it’s hurting ordinary people,” said one crypto advocate who spoke at the conference.
The cryptocurrency advocate wants to bring more Republican candidates into the bitcoin industry.
