ISLAMABAD:

Authorities in Upper South Waziristan have extended a district-wide curfew for a second consecutive day, citing heightened security concerns.

According to an official notification, “all movement across the district will remain completely restricted” during the curfew. The order affects markets, trade centres, and transportation routes.

Deputy Commissioner Ismatullah Wazir said all bazaars, commercial areas, and public routes in Upper South Waziristan will remain closed throughout the curfew.

“From Sararogha to Kotkai, Spinkai Raghzai to Nazar Khel, all roads will remain sealed,” he said. “Movement from Dargai Pul, Madi Jan, Shin Warsak to Mola Khan Sarai and Chagmali will also be strictly prohibited.”

Travel will only be permitted in emergencies and under strict conditions — with police or security clearance, valid identification, and submission of documents.

Residents have been instructed to pull their vehicles at least 100 metres off the road upon sighting any security convoy, the notice added.

Routes from Serwekai to Mola Khan Sarai and towards Barwand will also remain shut. All roads from Tiarza to Torwam are to be blocked as well. The renewed restrictions follow a recent surge in security threats across the region. No timeline was given for lifting the curfew.
