BAJAUR:

Authorities have imposed a week-long curfew in 24 areas of Mamond tehsil, Bajaur tribal district, as security forces launch a targeted operation against terrorists.

According to an official notification issued with the approval of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Home Department, the curfew came into effect at 5pm on Friday (Aug 16) and will remain in force until 5pm on Aug 21.

The order bars residents from leaving their homes or moving on roads during the period. Authorities warned that any violations of the restrictions would be dealt with strictly, and individuals flouting the curfew would be held accountable for any untoward incidents.

The affected areas include Malangi, Suprayi, Dwaogai, Meena Suleman Khel, Khworchai, Chamyar Jor, Zagai, Gat, Agra, Ghandai, Zari, Nakhtar, Mula Killi, Bakro, Gowati, Chamyalon, Larkalan, Barkalan, Ghanam Shah, Chotra, Damadola, Sultan Baig, Inam Khworo and Naga.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has launched emergency construction work on the Jarr Bridge, which was washed away by recent floods, severing Bajaur’s road link with Dir district.

Army engineers, supported by heavy machinery and technical equipment, have been deployed to install a replacement bridge. Officials said the work is being carried out round the clock and is expected to be completed within a few days, after which the vital route will be reopened for traffic.
