Michael Irvin is expanding his legacy in the DFW area with the opening of upscale sports bar and restaurant Playmakers88. The two-day grand opening begins this Friday at 5pm and will feature live music, stand-up comedy, celebrity appearances and more.
Day two will feature event giveaways, autograph sessions and photo opportunities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The restaurant will donate a portion of proceeds from the weekend celebration to the Alzheimer’s Association of Metropolitan Dallas, a cause close to the heart of Irvin and his family.
“I am truly honored to create an upscale sports bar and restaurant where sports fans can cheer on their favorite teams and players while enjoying great food, cocktails and good company,” said Irvin. “I hope everyone who visits Playmakers 88 feels the excitement, energy and love I have for the entire sports community and the entire DFW region.”
Upon entering the contemporary restaurant, you’ll be greeted by a recreation of the famous Ring of Honor, featuring photos of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, better known as “The Triplets.” Photos of members of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor are also displayed throughout the bar area.
Playmakers88 also features Dallas Cowboys artwork and memorabilia throughout the restaurant.

The 7,000-square-foot space will feature bartop, lounge and booth-style seating for more than 250 people, 50 flat-screen TVs, surround sound, upbeat music and a pool table. Celebrity chef Russanne “RJ” Johnson will head the restaurant’s kitchen, serving up dishes ranging from crab cakes, chicken wings and burgers to pasta, Southern cuisine and seafood dishes.
“It really is a moment where everything comes back together. I’ve enjoyed Chef RJ’s cooking for years, so to have him at the helm of the menu is a true honor and a wonderful treat for our guests,” Irvin said.
Playmakers88 is located at 5005 State Highway 121 in The Colony and is open daily from 11 a.m. to late night.
