ORIAN — Three girls from the Southwest won the opening night of the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Athletic Association Track & Field Championships on Friday.

The Trojans’ Trinity Card won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 26.99 seconds, Emma Lewis won the 3,000 meters in 10 minutes, 16.68 seconds, and Faith Hamilton won the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, 8.5 inches. .

Southwestern University also had a winner in the men’s division, with Tyler McIntyre winning the discus throw at 130 feet, 5 inches.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Mary Landmark won the pole vault title in fewer attempts than the 9-footer Eve Adams of Randolph. The women’s triple jump winner was Gracie Conlan of Frewsburg University, who was 33 feet, 7.25 inches tall.

Five different schools had boys’ winners. In addition to McIntyre, Randolph’s Lorne Kelly won the 800 meters in 1:55.63, Frewsburg’s Cody Kent won the 3,200 meters in 10:13.79, and Maple Grove’s Jonah Foley won in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 10 inches, and Alleghany Limestone’s Nick Andree won. Triple jump crown with a jump of 40 feet.

DEPUY — Senior Noah Birch earned Jamestown’s only victory Friday on the first day of the Erie County Interhigh Conference track and field championships.

Birch jumped 20 feet, 5 inches in the long jump, defeating Cheektowaga’s Maek Dennis by more than 4 inches.

In the discus, Alivia Wofford of the Red & Green took third place with a toss of 108 feet, 4 inches.

Jamestown’s Liam Caswell currently sits in sixth place in the pentathlon with 1,278 points. Caswell ran the 110-meter hurdles in 18.02 seconds, threw 8.27 meters in the shot put and 1.48 meters in the high jump. The pentathlon concludes today with the long jump and 1500 meters.

Men’s individual event winners included Andrew Donner of Hamburg, who won the 800 meters in 1 minute, 59.24 seconds, Carson Zuba of Lancaster, who won the 3,200 meters in 9 minutes, 34.69 seconds, and Grayden of Springville. Heichberger threw a shot put of 48 feet, 6 inches.

Girls individual event winners included: Frontier’s Lily Bogdan won the 800 meters in 2:09.43, East Aurora’s Kailyn Horton won the 3,000 meters in 10:18.12, Hamburg’s Isabella Capalco won the discus at 110 feet, 10 inches, and West Seneca West’s Jayden won the long jump with a time of 16 feet, 0.75 inches.
